We have an expression in French: "faire du neuf avec du vieux" (which roughly translated stands for "making something new out of old stuff").
This is exactly what the label Brilliant Classics did last year when they launched a 170 CD-boxset with the complete work of Mozart: helped by the media buzz around the 250th anniversary of his birth, they sold untill now more than
200,000 sets ! And the complete Bach boxset (155 CDs) that they have introduced in September has already reached 50,000.
Who said that marketing did not sell ?
