MUSIC AGAINST GLOBAL WARMING: MORE BANDS CONFIRMED FOR 'LIVE EARTH'

By now all of you should know that Al Gore (former VP, ex-future Mr. President, Nobel prize nominee and recent Oscar winner) has launched "SOS", a serie of massive free concerts who wil take place in seven cities around the globe on the 7th of July in an attempt to raise awareness of global warming and put more pressure on governments to act.

If you judge by the bill, this will be a huge one with bands such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Foo Fighters, Lenny Kravitz, Fall Out Boy and Bloc Party having already confirmed.

Of course, the question remains as to whether this will really urge President Bush to finally sign off the Kyoto Convention.

POP STARS AS MULTI-MEDIA BRANDS: AVRIL LAVIGNE ON PAPER

Quite a number of rock/pop stars seems to have made the transition from real life to cartoon characters. To name but a  few: David Bowie, Kiss and even your very own Baron Zero.

Avril Lavigne (whose new album 'The best damn thing' is out in April) is the last one to add to that list: she will appear as herself in the manga 'Make 5 wishes' which features an introverted teenager who has a series of wishes granted by a demon. When things don't turn out as planned, she meets her hero - Avril Lavigne - who "helps her find the courage to conquer her own personal demons."

ARE YOU THIRSTY AND EXPERIENCED: THE FIRST OFFICIAL HENDRIX BEVERAGE

The imagination (some may say "the total lack of decency") of marketeers has no limit. Beverage Concepts have partnered with Authentic Hendrix to launch the Liquid Experience, the only beverage line to bear the exclusive rights to the Jimi Hendrix name and image. It will be launched in April at the Experience Music Project's Jimi Hendrix exhibit. More detail at MarketWatch here.

According to CEO Josh Glass the New Age beverage will provide drinkers "the same level of excitement, undefined coolness, rock 'n roll feel and unprecedented taste that is synonymous with the Jimi Hendrix image".

Strangely enough, there is no information about what the taste will be like ...
