WILL CONTROVERSY SELL PERFUME: P.DIDDY BANNED SEXY TV ADVERTISING

Following the launch of "Unforgivable" early last year (in collaboration with Estee Lauder), rap mogul P. Diddy has introduced a woman version of the perfume called "Unforgivable woman". The only issue is that the planned TV film is apparently too hot for many broadcasters who have refused to air it - details here.

Interestingly this is pretty much what happened in 2006 with Unforgivable print ad - details here. Some may see this as a sign he has not learned from it, but I would say that if there is one thing Mr Combs knows for sure is that controversy (especially when spiced up with a bit of sex) always get talked about.

British band Athlete has partnered up with music tutorial site Now Play It to give every consumers buying the digital single 'Hurricane' (Don't miss out: remix soon to be featured in Zerocast !!!) a free video tutorial of how to play the song. More details at Billboard.bizz here.

DRINK ME, DRINK ME: MARILYN MANSION LAUNCHES OFFICIAL 66.6% ABSINTHE

After "Liquid Experience", the first official Jimi Hendrix' beverage (on which I reported in a February post here) it is the turn of Marilyn Mansion to bring you his very own favourite poison: named Mansinthe, the official Marilyn Mansion Absinthe reaches a pretty stiff 66.6° (and should cost an equally stiff 40 $ a bottle).

According to the webiste Mansinthe.de here "Marilyn Manson was directly involved in developing this product and made changes to multiple prototypes that were sent for his review. It took a considerable amount of time to get Mansinthe to the level Manson desired".

PASS THE HENNESSY: PHARELL FOLLOWS BUSTA RHYMES INTO COGNAC PROMOTION

I'm now back at the castle and it looks like a few interesting marketing initiatives have taken place in the music arena during my absence. First one on the list is the partnership announced between Pharell Williams and Hennessy as reported here by Billboard.bizz.

Pharell will create all the music for the 3 TV commercials as well as the internet spots which will be featured on FlauntYourTaste.com - the campaign's official Web site.

It sounds like an effective to tap into the you and treny hip-hop/rap crowed, only too eager to replicate their favourite artists' soft spot for overpriced European spirits. But it wil probably find it hard to surpass the legendary "Pass the Courvoisier" 2000 stunt with Busta Rhymes, P Diddy and ... Pharell Williams !
