The casting for DIE GROSSE CHANCE (the Austrian equivalent to "Britain's got talent") was a much more enjoyable affair than for THE VOICE yesterday.
Since a large part of the country's population had apparently decided to enter the competition as singers, I first had to go through a pre-casting. Which gave me the opportunity not only to warm up my vocal chords but also tell my story (terror attack and all).
Then onto the main casting, where I finally had a chance to sing the whole 3 minutes of Michael Buble's "Feeling good". The performance was good but but probably not enough to qualify for the live show considering the number of competitors.
Still, it is a TV program after all so the voice is not the only thing. And interestingly, everything that made me unsuitable for THE VOICE could actually prove to be an advantage here. Clearly having only teenagers (even with incredible voices) would not be so exciting, they need different people with different stories.
I'll admit it was a long shot but we will know in a couple of weeks if it paied off.
